Kissing Strangers

The swirling symphonic melodies of ‘Kissing Strangers’ herald the return of Cherry Ghost, three years after the release of their critically acclaimed, top 10 debut album, ‘Thirst For Romance’.

The first single to be taken from the new LP ‘Beneath This Burning Shoreline’, released on July 7th.. The dusty crooned vocals of Simon Aldred are wrapped around psychedelic lullabies, Glen Campbell guitars and stately drumming. An ode to wayward souls “trawling the night skies,” ‘Kissing Strangers’ is a 21st century song for swinging lovers: young hearts on the chase and well groomed weekend brutes.

In 2008 the band won a prestigious Ivor Novello award for ‘People Help The People’, a recognition of Aldred’s evocative songwriting. Lyrically the new album weaves narratives of revenge and loss, the spectre of hope and the triumph of spirit.
To launch ‘Beneath This Burning Shoreline’ and to coincide with a string of live shows, the exclusive download ‘We Sleep On Stones’ (taken from the new album) is now available from the band’s website. The malevolent locomotive rhythm of the track signals a move away from the idea of Cherry Ghost as a solo project, showcasing a more refined and assured sounding band.
