Heavenly Recordings Presents

Sea of Bees tour poster

Heavenly Recordings presents:

James Walbourne
Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou
Sea of Bees
on tour in February

Heavenly Recordings start the year by showcasing some of the label’s newest signings, with Sea Of Bees taking to the road with label mates Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou and James Walbourne in support.  All three artists have been tipped for great things in 2011 so this is a unique opportunity to catch them on tour together in February,  and should prove to be an un-missable evening of emerging talent.

Sea Of Bees has already been championed by Rough Trade Shops as one of the female voices of 2010 and her debut album,  ‘Song For The Ravens’, released on February 7th,  was recently made their ‘Album of the Month’ for December.  A singer-song writer and multi-instrumentalist from Sacramento,  Sea Of Bees possesses a truly unique,  alien voice and her brand of off-kilter freak-folk is vital and captivating,  and is utterly spellbinding when performing live.

Having been described by the Guardian as “Reminiscent of early 60s folk rock bands such as Fairport Convention and Dylan in his more reflective moments,” Trevor & Hannah-Lou’s quintessentially English brand of folk will be the perfect warm-up to Sea Of Bees.  With a new album to be released in the spring there is understandably a huge amount of interest in this husband and wife duo.

James Walbourne has already notched up a musical career to inspire envy,  having worked with the formidable likes of Jerry Lee Lewis,  Edwyn Collins,  Saint Etienne and Shane MacGowan, and touring and recording with The Pretenders, he is now set to release his debut album titled ‘The Hill’ in January.

Doug Paisley ‘No One But You / If I Wanted To’ (Heavenly 7″) out now

HVN212_Doug_Paisley

A few months ago, a good friend of ours in NYC sent us a link to Doug Paisley’s ‘Constant Companion’ LP. The accompanying note read, “I love this and so will you”. She was not wrong.

So we got on the phone to Doug’s manager and his U.S. label, No Quarter, and offered to release the record in Europe. Alas, it was too late. Mojo had a rave review about to run and a MOJO Rising feature to follow shortly after. We couldn’t turn the record around before March so we bailed. As I’m sure you know it’s a tough trick trying to sell a record these days and with those key bits of promo coming out of whack of the release date we played the card of caution, it’s the most beautiful song we heard all year. And the flip is a gem too, and a previously unreleased one at that.

Copies can be ordered directly from Heavenly Recordings

And don’t forget that ‘No One But You’ is taken the LP ‘Constant Companion’. Released on the No Quarter label and distributed in Europe by PIAS.

full of comfort, drawing sweet poetry from real lives, written and sung by a man who seems uninterested in projecting himself — not out of common shyness or a desire to be oh-so-terribly enigmatic, but as a deliberate decision to get out of the way of his songs, which, with a kind of rare purity, speak for themselves.”

Ghandi Remix

Side A:
1. Gandhi (Andy Weatherall remix I)
2. Gandhi (Andy Weatherall remix II)

Side B:
1. Gandhi (MVSEVM remix)
2. Gandhi (Dicky Trisco’s Heavenly Dub)

The debut heavenly release from Le Corps Mince De Francoise featuring a massive Andy Weatherall remix that’s like an old school jbo style mix. ‘Gandhi’ reimagines Sean Ryder’s skewed pop vision, but sung by Nordic Sirens who cut their teeth listening to everyone from the Beastie Boys to Gaga whilst getting lost in ghost world. It’s as immediate and accessible as it is dazzlingly unique.

Rising out of Helsinki’s local electro-pop-punk scene in 2007, sisters Emma and Mia Kemppainen’s musical vehicle LCMDF (Le Corps Mince de Francoise) was quickly picked up by bloggers and music fans across the globe.

Heavenly say of their newest signing, “the band holds true the qualities of the bands we love: conviction, tunes & a love of POP”. Indeed, the ten tracks that make up LCMDF’s debut album ‘Love & Nature’ — produced by Kaiku Studios in Berlin – are embossed with the kind skewed pop vision that recalls the likes of Tom Tom Club, Neneh Cherry and Shaun Ryder …
