Sea of Bees new single & U.K tour dates

Sea of Bees is proud to announce the release of her new single ‘Gnomes,’ out on 15th of August through Heavenly Recordings, the third to be taken from her critically applauded debut album ‘Songs For the Ravens.’

HVN223 Sea Of Bees — Gnomes by heavenlyrecordings
‘Gnomes’ is quietly disarming, propelled by a characteristic child-like vocal, wrapping intimate musings against a backdrop of rhythmic guitar riffs. It is alluring in its mysterious and fragmented beauty and a clear album highlight. ‘Gnomes’ is accompanied by a remix by a Tunng remix – the folk experimentalists contort the original, chopping the vocals in amongst Eastern strings, both urgent and exhilarating. ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’ is a cover of Blue Oyster Cult and sees Sea Of Bees collaborate with Neal Casal who once again showcases his fine craftsmanship, having been a key member of Ryan Adam’s The Cardinals. To round off the EP ‘With Or Without You’ is a delicate, wistful cover of the U2 classic.

Having supported Smoke Fairies and John Grant earlier this year and headlined a Heavenly showcase tour, Sea of Bees has already gained notoriety for her live performance, her hypnotic and eccentric musical charms brought to the fore when she takes to the stage. It is therefore with great excitement that we announce a full U.K headline tour in July, as well as festival appearances at Glastonbury, Truck Festival and Port Elliot Festival.

James Walbourne headlines Truck Fest warm up tour…

James Walbourne headlines four warm-up dates for Truck Festival, playing with Dreaming Spires and Two Fingers Of Firewater.

Truck Festival in rural Oxfordshire has developed a reputation as one of the country’s finest independent festivals with its own unique personality. Prior to this year’s hotly anticipated festival, they have found time to tour a fantastic triple bill of UK based Americana acts.

Heading the bill is acclaimed guitarist and songwriter James Walbourne, who is signed to the ever brilliant Heavenly Records. Having played guitar with, and for, the likes of Peter Bruntnell, Son Volt, The Pogues and The Pretenders, James released his debut album to wide acclaim.

Impecable support comes from Two Fingers of Firewater, who prove that there is a place for trombone in rock’n’roll with their catchy tunes and summer pop harmonies with a variety of influences from Big Star to Yo La Tengo. According to AmericanaUK’s review of their new album ‘Songs To Listen To’ TFOF have suddenly mutated from a relatively simple roots band, into a machine that captures ears. New elements have sprouted, there’s more rock, more pop, more orchestral moments, more of everything.

Whilst Dreaming Spires are only a few gigs old but already have the sound of a classic band; hardly surprising when you consider that brothers Robin & Joe have shared the stage with The Flaming Lips, Elbow, Mercury Rev and even jammed with heroes such as Garth Hudson of The Band and Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, as members of Goldrush and Danny & the Champions of the World.
