Pete Fowler’s new solo exhibition

silas show flyer

The rather excellent Pete ‘Monsterism’ Fowler has just announced details of his first solo show in quite a while to open in conjunction with the new Silas store up in Islington.

Pete says ‘I’ve recently rediscovered painting landscapes, not that they aren’t present in so many of my work but this time I’ve turned the spotlight directly on the landscape. In particular, the Cornish coastline. Silas UK were kind enough to offer me some space on the walls of their London shop after seeing some of the pieces so I’ve turned them into a show. Along with a little something I bought from a car boot sale and have ‘modified’. That’s a bit of a surprise for the night, but just a small one’

This will be the official re opening of the shop on 8 Shillingford St, N1. www.silasuk.com

The show starts on the 29th September at Silas U.K

On Big Water’ a film by Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou

t&h-1

Following on from ’11 Nights Under Tin’, Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou’s beautiful document of their Tin Tabernacles tour filmed at the beginning of the year and ‘There’s Something Happening Somewhere’ (on the road with the Magic Numbers) comes ‘On Big Water’.

It was filmed while performing six very special shows in celebration of the release of their latest album ‘Quality First, Last & Forever!’. The venues were all alongside the Kennet and Avon canal and their faithful sherpa van was given a weeks holiday as they toured by canal boat on their way down to perform at Glastonbury. As on ’11 Night’s’ and ‘There’s Something Happening’ Big Water was shot entirely in 3 second snippit’s on hi8 film. This was then painstakingly chopped and pieced together on a computer in their bedroom post production department.

Jeff and I (Danny) had the pleasure of joining Trevor and Hannah, Benjamin Folke Thomas, Jack Day, and The Stargazer for a couple of days on their tour when they moored up in the delightful villages of Bedwyn and Pewsey. If you think you can spot us both in the film and you e-mail me the times you think we appear then I will send you a copy of the ’11 Nights Under Tin’ dvd. I’ll give you a clue, I’m wearing one of these.

In the meantime while plans are being hatched for their next adventure Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou will be supporting The Bees on the 29th September at St James’s Church in Piccadilly. Tickets available here, priced £16.50
