Our next release is the debut album from 77:78 titled ‘Jellies‘. The new project from Aaron Fletcher & Tim Parkin of The Bees featuring the singles ‘Love Said (Let’s Go)’ and ‘Chilli.’
Ahead of the release, the band share a brand new video for ‘Chilli.’
Talking about the video Aaron from the band said:
“This video is ….made up of ‘on the road’ and backstage footage between shows in Liverpool, Manchester and Brighton, recorded over the last few months.. It’s us playing, dancing and getting into it. The plan was to shot from the hip and grab a hold of the 77:78 vibe…ya know see our ugly mugs, see us getting loose. John Slade’s super dope graphics are stitched in and out of it, keeping the continuity…the aesthetic and the little bit silly yet super cool fun thing we’re all about…”

The debut album ‘Jellies’ was recorded at Studio Humbug on the Isle of Wight and musically picks it way from sublime west coast harmonies that recall the frayed beauty of the Beach Boys Smiley Smile, to the ramshackle dub of King Tubby via the playfulness of early Syd Barret.
“Some musicians and bands definitely have their sound and stick to it, which is fair enough, but that’s just not us. Whenever we’re in the studio we’re constantly inspired to go down different musical paths, which I suppose is why the record we’ve made sounds so diverse.”Crucially though, the outcome is something that is 100% Fletcher and Parkin’s.
‘Jellies’ is due for release on Friday 6th July.
To celebrate the release of ‘Jellies’ the band are playing at Rough Trade East on release day!
The band will also appear at a number of great UK festivals this summer.
Finally, having played a stunning debut London show at Omeara earlier this year the band return to the capital this Autumn to play Oslo, Hackney.
