NEW MUSIC: Cat’s Eyes rework Unloved’s ‘Remember’

Image

Unloved are very pleased to release a very special reworking of their track ‘Remember’ by duo Cat’s Eyes. Plus, the band have also announced a series of headline shows taking place this May in the UK and Ireland.

‘Remember’ is taken from Unloved’s recent much-acclaimed second album, Heartbreak, which we released last month.

Initially approached to do a remix, the duo of Faris Badwan and Rachel Zeffira, instead recorded a cover in their own unique style, the first new music the pair have released in almost three years.

Talking about the track, Faris Badwan said:

One of the first times Cat’s Eyes met David was while DJing in Belfast at his night, God’s Waiting Room. It’s probably one of the last fun club nights in Britain with the right blend of chaos and great music. Unloved played their first live show that evening.

Rachel is really into a spy show called Killing Eve, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. She was watching it one day thinking how great the score was, when totally unexpectedly a song from our second record called “Girl in the Room” appeared. She discovered that David had supervised the music fro the show and included one of our tracks. She wrote to him to say thank you and he responded by asking us to rework one of the songs from the Unloved album. Full of both sonic experimentation and pop hooks, it could be from any era. Jade’s voice has an amazing blend of mystery and intimacy.

Recent praise for ‘Heartbreak.’

“An analogue masterwork with sweetness, roughness, noirness and light.”

Shindig Magazine ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ –

“Heartbreak finds Vincent baring her love-ravaged soul over lustrous noir backdrops, tempered with forlorn Shangri-Las innocence.” – “A cut above and very special.”

Record Collector ⭐⭐⭐⭐ –

“Heartbreak pulses to an uneasy throb, sometimes grinding its rhythms, moving tectonic plates, at others settling for heavy drone.”

MOJO ⭐⭐⭐⭐ –

“Vincent’s careworn lyrcis and lived-in vocals add even deeper, darker shading to an already engrossingly sepulchral affair.”
