NEW VIDEO ALERT Baxter Dury ‘Prince of Tears.’

Image

Baxter Dury has released the video for his album title track and current single ‘Prince of Tears.’

“Baxter trained for 2 weeks to prepare for the video,” says director Roger Sargent .“Though some trickery is involved, 80 percent of the punches are real – and hurt! We wanted that realism to be the spine of the shoot, so that Baxters acting would be all the more real. It still gets me emotionally every time I watch!”

Baster says:

“It’s dream sequence about fighting something that you love that will destroy you.”

“The pugilistic setting — Baxter really does look like he’s been through the ringer — matches surprisingly well with the tender sentiment and melancholic strings of the song.” – Brooklyn Vegan

“If you’ve heard Baxter Dury‘s recently released album ‘Prince of Tears’ you’ll have clocked that over the past 18 months he’s taken a good kicking when it comes to the matters of the heart. The new video for the album’s title track could be a metaphor for Baxter picking himself up off the canvas and winning the day. Except, it isn’t. It’s basically three minutes of him getting his ears boxed in – all bleeding eyes, puffy lips and fuzzy concussion – until the point that he’s just laughing, presumably before he passes out…” – Loud & Quiet

‘Prince of Tears’ is out now to wide critical acclaim:

“Casually unique and an unbounded joy to listen to, it’s the quintessential Baxter Dury album” – Q ★★★★

“A career best album’ – Mojo ★★★★

“Patently, Baxter Dury paid in physical and mental wellbeing to make ‘Prince of Tears.’ The results are priceless.” – Record Collector ★★★★

“Baxter comments, ‘it’s massively delusional, but, because of that it’s also emotionally true. This prince is becoming a king.” – Louder Than War 9/10

“Dury’s DNA is undoubtedly the bedrock for his songwriting, but he’s no mere throwback to his dad’s punk-poet pre-eminence.” – Electronic Sound

Baxter plays KOKO London at the end of the month. He also has a run of UK shows in early 2018.
