• ‘Blind On A Galloping Horse’ • This video was created by Douglas Hart for David Holmes’ album title track.
♥️♥️♥️
David’s shares his thoughts and a poem:
The idea for this film came about after my friend & comrade Adam Broomberg Artist & Activist co-founder of the NGO artists + allies x Hebron with the human rights defender Issa Amro who is based in Hebron. Adam got in touch about creating a visual piece to my song ‘Blind on a Galloping Horse’ , featuring his friend Issa Amro and his daily struggles with the Israeli state and IDF. From this simple idea another friend , the brilliant film-maker and activist Douglas Hart came onboard and created this very special film based on a couple of very open conversations about what we are trying to say and why the song itself tells many stories to many. Huge thank you to both Adam & Douglas. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to collaborate with 2 great artists on such a worthy cause.
Below is a poem David I read for the Amos Trust Charity at Union Chapel in London and is very much linked to my Humanity as An Act of Resistance broadcast series on Ntsradio.

• Humanity as an Act of Resistance •
Humanity As an Act of Resistance
You killed their dreams
but not their memories
You slaughter children
still in their Nurseries
I stand before you
I don’t have a pittance
just my Humanity as an Act of Resistance
You shelled the mosques
claiming mothers and fathers
You blew up the hospitals
Killing Nurses & Doctors
I stand before you
with no more forgiveness
just with my Humanity as an Act of Resistance
You slaughtered our poets ,
journalists & artists ,
educators, library’s and publishing houses
Your cowardice is bottomless
While armed to the back teeth
you raze cemeteries of numbers
bloodied flour for a wreath
You ploughed stolen land
crushing bodies with tanks
Nearly breaking our spirits
arms funded by yanks
You pulled out the heart
while it was still beating
as mothers rock parcels
while they are still bleeding
You took aim at aid
& shot down human rights
No bakeries No bread
Starving babies now dead
Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it
Memories quite visibly
shaping the present
Oppression produces
acute mental illness
but up Rises
Humanity as an Act of Resistance
