Back in the autumn of 2017 a dear and trusted friend to the folks at Heavenly Recordings told them to go check out the record by Mattiel which had just come out on Burger.

Anything recommended by the legend that is James Endeacott has to be taken as gospel so Heavenly acted swiftly on the tip and soon found themselves head over heels in love with what they declared to be, without a doubt, the most exciting debut rock ‘n’ roll soul record in many a year.

Today it is with great pride that Heavenly announce they are soon to be releasing said LP in Europe and if this isn’t a treat in itself there’s more: here’s a teaser taste of a track off of this classic album, ‘Just A Name’.

Born and raised in rural Georgia on her mother’s farm, as an adolescent she found refuge in her mother’s limited record collection, which included records by Donovan, Peter Paul & Mary and The Monkees.

A talented ad designer, illustrator and set builder, she moved to Atlanta and met Randy Michael and Jonah Swilley in 2014 and began writing music that would eventually form the basis of her debut album which was written and recorded quickly over 9 months.

Influenced by the likes of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Andre 3000, Marc Bolan, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Staple Singers and Jack White among many others, the writing process was simple; Michael and Swilley supplied instrumental compositions and handed them over to Mattiel for lyrical content and
melodies. Striking up a friendship with Burger Records, the album received a U.S. release in the autumn of last year.

Finally, she heads over to Europe in May for a run of shows, including a headline show at London’s Lexington.
