Confidence Man are back with a brand new track: ‘First Class Bitch’

Confidence Man have little use for subtlety. No, Confidence Man are wise enough to trade in bulk: big feelings and big moves. If it’s not relatable, after all, why bother?

While their last single, “Does It Make You Feel Good” dealt in the universal glee of the dancefloor, their latest bop swerves hard in another direction.

“First Class Bitch”, if the title doesn’t shout its intention immediately, is an in your face, tongue in cheek anthem.

Boasting a hook that Charli XCX will wish she’d written the moment she hears it, “First Class Bitch” is designed to make you feel like you’re on top of the world, at the top of your game, no matter where you might be in reality. Especially in this cursed 2020, that’s priceless.

The move had been on singer/songwriter Janet Planet’s mind for a minute. “I’d been thinking about this for a while now… It all started in London, when I saw a pair of socks with the words “first class bitch” embroidered on them, hanging in a shop front window. I suddenly realised, I too was a first class bitch. I rushed back to the penthouse and penned this hit. Ever wondered what you hear when you die? This is it.”

“First Class Bitch” is a soundtrack for ghosting that asshole who only replies to your DM’s when it suits them, an anthem for buying that overpriced doohickey you’ve had your eye on for months because, damn it, you deserve it. This is a song all about, and only for, you. Let’s face it, we all need a little self-adoring narcissism every blue moon.

Turn it up, ease back, ride that ego trip. Sure, by the end of it you’ll be dancing, but you’ll be far too sure of yourself to notice what that really looks like. Go ahead, feel yourself. It’s ok. Confidence Man have given you that. It’s in the name, after all.
