French multi-instrumentalist Halo Maud has announced details of her debut album,Je Suis Une île’ to be released on Friday 25th May. Today she shares ‘Wherever,’ along with a video directed by Parisian filmmakers’ collective Deezooit, who also produced her Baptism video.

Maud says of ‘Wherever’:

“It all started with this sentence “it made me want to be wherever you were”, that I received and took as a gift. The song talks about memories, in that case of a past love story, about the traces and even the physical sensations it leaves. I am quite fascinated by the effect of time generally, by how things are filtered by our memory, and I am wondering how much we decide to blur our vision.”

Hailing from the French proggy, psychedelic and experimental pop scene that birthed Melody’s Echo Chamber, Moodoïd and cult label La Souterraine, Halo Maud’s ethereal songs flit between English and French language, focussing on notions of freedom and power through a wild and playful lens.
