Pip Blom have shared a brand new video for their latest single ‘Daddy Issues‘, directed by Edward Zorab.

The video is a love letter to classic cinema, but also a cautionary tale,” says frontwoman Pip Blom. “Our culture makes it too easy to fall in love with things which aren’t real, and if you’re not careful you can end up in a sort of groundhog day cycle of self-induced disappointment. I think the surreal narrative of the video encapsulates that in quite a self aware way.”

“’Daddy Issues’ finds Pip Blom is typically testy mood, utilising their elastic post-punk style to tease and berate. With their ever-increasing chemistry, Pip Blom is finding new angles and spins for their sound, perfectly backing their titular lead singer as she snarls and cajoles her way through ‘Daddy Issues’, before driving headlong into yet another earworm chorus.”

“Lead single ‘Daddy Issues’ captures Pip at their most efficient; packed with melodic hooks stacked on a laid-back beat, Pip Blom prove they’re capable of producing classics.”

‘Daddy Issues’ is the first single from Boat, Pip Blom’s debut album, due to be released by us on the 31st of May.

‘Boat’ is energetic in sound & as infectious as Pip’s previous singles. Recorded with Dave McCracken at Big Jelly studios in Margate with the album then mixed by Dillip Harris in a shipping container on the banks of the Thames in East London. Its result is ten songs that, alluding to the album’s title, ferry you through Pip’s headspace via expertly crafted songs gelled together through their unassuming depth.

The band are set to tour the UK in May and June, and also play a number of festivals throughout summer, including Sea Change, Field Day and Deer Shed.
